ERWARTUNG // EXPECTATION
Opera Philadelphia Channel Presents • 4m 53s
A film by director George R. Miller and baritone Timothy McDevitt, this live-action, contemporary adaptation of Arnold Schoenberg’s song ‘Erwartung’ (from Vier Lieder, Op. 2, No.1), ERWARTUNG // EXPECTATION recontextualizes the salon-like qualities of historical western lieder performance to a surrealistic bistro — through the lens of a cabaret singer’s fever-dream encounter with a ghostly muse. Featuring performances by: Timothy McDevitt, Renate Rohlfing, Layne Paradis Willis, and Gigi Todisco.
